- Total deliveries in a day: 200000 nos approx
- Error rate: 1 in 1600000 cases (99.9971%) !!!!!!!!
- Technology Back up: Nothing except the Human brain :)
- No history of late delivery ever.
- No Police cases registered in any dispute.
- Dedicated service that had only one motto "Customers are God"...

Beyond these the honesty and work dedication the have got simply could amuse anyone(Typical mumbaikars).. People leaving at 5 and 6 am in the morning cannot take packed lunch from home in the crowded suburban trains.. These people are messengers carrying not only their lunch but also love and care from home :) !! Their honesty is portrayed best when i heard the office goers deliver their salary in lunch boxes which the women find out and tell the workers. They could spare only 20 min for prince Charles as they said they had customer service as prime focus. I was literally dumbstruck when i heard instances where the food delivered from home has bonded the angry husbands with wives despite of their fight the previous night!! These Dabbawalas are committed to their work so that delivery was ensured even when there were torrential rains and attacks.Workers in age group of 70s too carry and deliver some 40 boxes a day. Seriously these people are an asset to INDIA and no wonder their supply chain is a subject in top premier institutes. :) Proud to be an INDIAN !!!!
Very true man.. :) Mumbai dabbawalas are the best customer caring people in the world i would say.. !!! Its quiet impossible to have such dedication without compromising on the food style when junk foods are ruling every street.. !! Hats off to these people.. !!

ReplyDeletegood one vaibhav.. and its a true observation. As a person who's used and experienced the dabbawala's services, I'd just like to add on to what you've told. They'd start their work well before people leave from their homes to offices.While office goers crib about being squeezed to death in the trains, these people travel with huge tiffin boxes in super crowded mumbai trains.They take special care and maintain perfect timing to ensure that the food's still hot when it reaches the concerned person. They cater to your exact needs; provide you with extra "chaaval" or "roti" according to your preferences, even cook the food to suit your liking. Frankly, dabbawalas are the only source of home made, edible and healthy food for bachelors and office goers who have absolutely no time to cook for themselves. Their food and service has something that one can never expect in outside food.. an extra special ingredient.. and that's "Care".. If not for them most of the working population would be running around with a "vada pav" in their hand :P
